THE MARCH TO END THE SILENCE
October 18, 1997  Washington, D.C.

Thousands of marchers gathered from all 50 states and several other countries. They carried 1500 silent witness figures so their voices could finally end the silence.

The solemn march moved to the slow cadence of bagpipers. Families gathered to honor the lives of women murdered in one year in the U.S. in acts of domestic violence.

At the nation's capitol we all pledged to end the silence and heal our country of domestic violence, starting with us and our own cities.

We all left the march dedicated to making a difference in our states. Our goal, 0 by 2010, zero domestic murders by the year 2010. Read on to see phenomenal progress we are all making. There is hope, there is healing and we are gathering momentum every month.
