Silent Witnesses Speak For Themselves
SafeChoice¹s Southwest Washington Silent Witness Project was present at our Rally on October 20th. Many people coming and going to the Courthouse stopped to read the plaques on each Silent Witness, receiving a powerful message: domestic violence is serious, this could be your mother, sister, neighbor or son who died at the hands of an abuser.
The Southwest Washington Silent Witness Exhibit honors 9 women and 1 man murdered from 1999 to 2003 due to domestic violence. Each figure represents a victim from Clark, Cowlitz or Skamania County and tells the story of when and how the victim died. These 10 life-size wooden figures speak for those who can no longer speak for themselves.
The Silent Witness Project is a national initiative with projects in all 50 states and several international projects as well. The objectives of the Silent Witness Exhibit are to: raise awareness, increase involvement, promote healing and reduce domestic violence. SafeChoice hopes to raise awareness of the seriousness of domestic violence.
